Tendai Changadeya is a Zimbabwean contemporary visual artist working across painting, collage, and stone sculpture. Born in Bulawayo, raised in Harare, and currently based in Mutare, his practice explores the tension between the material and the spiritual. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) degree from Chinhoyi University of Technology. Grounded in the concept of “transient eternity,” inspired by Second Epistle to the Corinthians 4:18, his work reflects on the relationship between the seen and unseen, the physical and the eternal. Through expressive, often fragmented figures and layered compositions, Changadeya examines themes of identity, spiritual tension, and transformation.

Alongside this, his practice maintains an awareness of material responsibility within the realities of the contemporary world. Engaging both the permanence of stone and the fragility of painterly surfaces, he considers how materials endure, age, and impact their environments over time. This sensitivity to conservation remains embedded within his broader artistic and spiritual inquiry, allowing his work to exist not only as a reflection on eternity, but also as a response to the conditions of the present world where creation, responsibility, and preservation intersect.

Connecting Hearts and Minds

One of my most notable influences is Shakespeare. His words, “The evil that men do lives after them,” motivate me to find light in darkness. As The Blind Seer, I aim to inspire empathy and transformation through my poetry. I dream of sharing my work on grand stages, using art to inspire positive change and bring awareness to important social issues.
In addition to writing, I am passionate about using poetry to foster community and connection. I believe that art has the power to unite people and create a shared understanding of our common humanity. My goal is to use my voice to make a difference, both in Zimbabwe and beyond.
