Pascal Kaporoma
About me
Welcome to my world. I am Pascal Kaporoma, known in the artistic realm as “The Blind Seer”. Born on November 14, 2000, in Rezi, Zimbabwe, I grew up in the care of my uncles while my mother worked in South Africa. This environment, though challenging, significantly shaped my early years and eventually inspired my journey into poetry.
Inspired by Tragedy: Writing About Loss and Resilience
Currently, I am a student of quantity surveying at Tele Polytechnic. However, my true passion lies in writing poetry, which began as a school assignment and has since become a profound part of my life. Poetry serves as my therapy, a way to process the emotional turbulence of my childhood and the complex family dynamics I experienced.
One of my most moving works was inspired by an elderly neighbour who lost her husband and son in a tragic accident. Though I haven’t shared the poem with her, writing it allowed me to connect deeply with her pain and resilience. This experience underscored the power of poetry to capture and convey deep emotions.
My creative process is influenced by everyday life, songs, and movies, always seeking to uncover hidden emotions and stories. Despite limited formal training, I believe my raw perspective gives my work a unique edge. I focus on themes of emotional and psychological experiences, aiming to touch the hearts and minds of my readers.
Connecting Hearts and Minds
One of my most notable influences is Shakespeare. His words, „The evil that men do lives after them,“ motivate me to find light in darkness. As The Blind Seer, I aim to inspire empathy and transformation through my poetry. I dream of sharing my work on grand stages, using art to inspire positive change and bring awareness to important social issues.
In addition to writing, I am passionate about using poetry to foster community and connection. I believe that art has the power to unite people and create a shared understanding of our common humanity. My goal is to use my voice to make a difference, both in Zimbabwe and beyond.
